Alan Hollinger, Baritone

American baritone Alan Hollinger enjoys a robust and versatile career as a performer, researcher, and A/V production specialist. In demand as soloist, he is hailed for his stage presence and sonorous vocalism. As a performer, he has trained with the Baylor Opera Theatre in his BA and MM degrees under stage director Dr. Jen Stephenson and coaches Kathleen Kelly and Dr. Jeffery Peterson.

 

His favorite roles include Older Turgenev in Notes on Viardot (2025), Vater in Hänsel und Gretel (2025), and Orfeo in La favola d'Orfeo (2026). Within Texas, he has had the pleasure of performing the title role in Gianni Schicchi with Atchley Opera (2025) and Le Dancaïro in Carmen with Opera Arlington (2026), and singing in the chorus of the Houston Gilbert and Sullivan Society’s production of Iolanthe (2025). He also sings at festivals within the United States, as with Music On Site with which he has sung King Melchior in Amahl and the Night Visitors (2025), and internationally, as with the International Summer Opera Festival of Morelia with whom he has sung the title role in Don Giovanni (2024).  

 

As a scholar, Mr. Hollinger researches the Lieder and opera of Ethel Smyth as well as the musico-poetic synthesis in serious music-drama. Recently, he has presented on her operas at the National Opera Association's National Conference (2026) and on her Lieder at the Texoma Region NATS conference (2025).  

 

As an audio engineer, Mr. Hollinger has specialized in recording audition and youtube videos for students and professional classical musicians. He also specializes in using simple yet effective live production materials and software to create elegant and professional appearing live streams for opera programs at schools, festivals, and young artist programs.  Mr. Hollinger graduate summa cum laude form Baylor University with a Bachelors of Arts in Church Music and Ancient Greek, and is an active member of Phi Beta Kappa. He went on to earn a Master of Music in Vocal Performance and Music Theory at Baylor University, where he worked as a Graduate Associate in the Music Theory department. He is a student of Dr. Mark Diamond.
